Ownership
Seagram bought the brand in 1997 and Diageo took it over with Seagram's spirits assets. Diageo has distilled Bulleit itself since 2017.
Why Watchlist
Bulleit's site credits a recipe "his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit made in the 1830s" and says Tom Bulleit founded the brand in 1987. The whiskey was made under contract by other distillers until Diageo opened its own Kentucky distillery in 2017. A 2015 labeling class action was voluntarily dismissed in 2016 without a settlement.
