Ownership
PVH sold Bass to G-III in 2013. In April 2025 G-III licensed North American footwear, bags, small leather goods and ghbass.com to ALDO for seven years from SS2026.
Why Avoid
G.H. Bass's story page is headed "Established in 1876 by George Henry Bass", shows "The Bass Shoe Factory, Wilton, Maine" and says the shoes are "still the same quality that you know and love". Bass stopped making shoes in Maine in 1998, when it closed its Wilton plant and moved production to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. G-III Apparel Group has owned the brand since 2013 and, from Spring/Summer 2026, licenses North American footwear to the ALDO Group, which designs, makes and sells it and runs the brand's site. The story page does not say where the shoes are made.
