Ownership

The Massachusetts company went bankrupt in 1949 and shut its factory in 1950. The name passed through Harry Aronson (1959), an Invicta-led Swiss group (1968) and Japan's Heiwado (1981) before Antonio DiBenedetto took a majority stake in 2011.

Why Watchlist

The site calls Waltham "The first American watch brand" with records "since 1850". The Waltham, Massachusetts factory closed in 1950 and the company was importing complete Swiss movements by 1952. The current watches are Swiss-made.
