Tony O'Reilly's leveraged expansion ended in 2009 receivership. KPS Capital shut the Kilbarry plant (480 redundancies, a seven week worker sit-in), then flipped WWRD to Fiskars in 2015 for $437M.

Most Waterford crystal is made in mainland Europe. Only a small showpiece facility remains in Waterford city.
