Ownership
Helen of Troy bought OXO International from WKI Holding for $275 million in 2004. HELE is a serial acquirer that also owns Hydro Flask (2016) and Osprey (2021). The parent is under strain: fiscal 2026 sales fell to $1.79B from $1.91B with over $800M in impairments, and a new CEO arrived mid-2025.
Why Watchlist
The risk is rollup stress, not licensing extraction. HELE's Project Pegasus targets $75-85M in annualized profit improvement through COGS savings, and tariffs cut gross margin roughly 200 basis points in a single quarter. That combination historically pressures spec sheets. A former OXO mechanical engineer reports the in-house product test engineering survived as of 2020. No documented quality decline yet.
