Ownership

Hunter Boots Limited went into UK administration on June 5, 2023 owing 112-115 million pounds in debts (Wells Fargo 18.5M senior, Goldman Sachs-backed Pall Mall Legacy 7.5M, plus 71.8M in senior and junior loan notes; 16.9M unsecured creditors). On June 2, 2023 — three days before administration — Authentic Brands Group acquired Hunter intellectual property (estimated $125M per Footwear News). The original company was renamed HBL Realisations Limited on June 14 and effectively wound down. ABG portfolio also includes Ted Baker, Juicy Couture, Reebok, Forever 21, and Brooks Brothers (already in Ledger).

Why Avoid

The original Hunter Boots Limited is gone. Products sold under the Hunter name today are licensed manufacturing arrangements with no continuity of factory, workforce, or design team. Per industry observer summary of the administration filings, the original company collapse was driven significantly by offshoring decisions that compromised quality, with quality decline preceding sales decline rather than the reverse. ABG licensing model is the same pattern as Brooks Brothers and Reebok: brand recognition without operational substance.
